shown by the dog braking too much, or seems very restless, or even drools excessively.  All of these are symptom of anxiety.  The reason that these animals are affected by anxiety are very  varied and wide as in the following:

  • Separation Anxiety
  • Noise Anxiety
  • Social Anxiety

Separation Anxiety

Separation anxiety can be observed in dogs when their owners leave them alone for a period of time.  The most common symptom is a dog chewing on anything they can lay their teeth on, including your furniture.

You dogs are very sensitive to noise and their decibel range is much lower than ours.  Therefore, if can handle noise great, your dog probably cannot.  Dogs have problem with noise likefirecrackers would sound like an atomic bomb explosion to them.  Even very large dogs ran away from the least of sounds and in effect, nothing that you say or do will calm them down.  Your direct presence by their side might sooth them down.

Dogs are very sensitive to noise and their decibel range is much lower than ours. So, a sound that we can handle becomes noise for them, and something like firecrackers would sound like an atomic bomb explosion to them! Even large dogs run away from the least of sounds and in effect, nothing that you say or do will calm them down – except for your direct presence by their side soothing them down.

When you get a new puppy and bring it home and the puppy is used to a crowd, until you get it involved into your society, it will have bouts of social anxiety.  You will see different behavior each time there is a small (or large) crowd of people (or even dogs) it is exposed to.

One of the most common phenomena to all these kinds of anxiety are excessive barking, drooling, shivering, moaning, panting, whining, and a reluctance to move from where they are.  Anxiety really show up as these examples and it is up to you to recognize these anxiety signs.  The treatment is simply, you need to get your dog used to that situation.  There are a number of ways to do this.  Get a good guide on dog training or speak to a few experts to see what best can be done from your point of view to help your dog.

Your pet is worth everything you can do for it especially if one has anxiety in dogs

Our dogs lives are really affected by anxiety.  Besides the anxiety as described above, they also have a lot of hidden stress that can challenge health and longevity. Things you can do to help your animal.

  1. Try and reduce their isolation.  Dogs are really pack animals.  Leaving them alone for hour after hour or day after day, and they will certainly mourn their very existence.  This will definite cause problems like anxiety.  Lack of attention may be the biggest stress a dog may have.
  2. Good Water: Poor water or insufficient water is very dangerous.  If you go on a walk  with your dog, make sure you bring along water.  Don’t let your dog drink sprinkler  run off or out of a fountain, which will probably contain toxic chemicals.  If you drink purified water, then your pet should be also.
  3. Fitness: Watch what your dog eats, because chubby dogs aren’t cute.  Fat animals   are health problems waiting to happen.  You can expect early onset of joint damage, diabetes, and major organ disease. How do you know if your dog is slender enough?  Just make sure your dog has a slim waist and that you can find his ribs.  Just think  slim, but not skinny.  Never give your dog diet drugs to slim your dog down.  The  best way is just cut back on high fat foods and carbs (no corn, no wheat).  You can  fix steamed veggies (broccoli, carrots or green beans) for snacks.  A healthy fit dog is less prone to injury and has a healthier digestive system and heart.  (Just like  humans, heart disease is a major killer of dogs.)  Just like us, dogs need  good sensible exercise, begun gradually. Because Flabby dogs will do their best to  keep up with joggers and cyclists even when they shouldn’t.)
  4. Try and reduce exposure to environmental stressors.  Just try to eliminate loud or jarring noises and protect your pet from air pollution and any known allergens as   much as you can.  At times, we think of our pets as tough creatures of the wild, but they have no more tolerance to 21st Century life than we do.
  5. Keep animal in the shade:  Dogs that have thin coats, fair skin and those with a  summer buzz cuts are susceptible to skin cancer and must stay out of the sun.  If you dog does get sun, apply nontoxic sunscreen made for dogs, but remember that they may lick it off so it needs to be safe for a human baby to swallow. Remember to provide shade and cool water.
  6. Second hand Smoke: Your dog does not need second hand smoke because it is bad    for dog, may cause infections. respiratory problems and even asthma and lung  cancer.  Stop smoking please and have your visitors stop smoking where your dog  can have a healthy, happy life.
  7. No is the answer: Do not blow pot smoke into your animal’s nose or give them alcohol.  Make sure everyone around your dog knows this.
  8. Comfort: Your dogs really like people, they life soft beds and the kind of temperatures  Goldilocks would like, not too hot and not too cold.  If you sleep in your house, your dog should sleep indoors, too, because they really are family.
  9. Stop chemical exposure: Take care of your pet, beware of herbicides, pesticides, road grime and other potentially carcinogenic substances, and consider safer alternatives to toxic products. When you purchase something for your dog read the Product Inserts for all pet meds. (Remember what is good for you may not be good for your animal. Remember that something as seemingly innocuous as cocoa mulch can prove deadly. Don’t let your pets eat off the floor; this means they’re consuming your cleaning products, too. Make sure everything that comes in contact with your animal should be child safe.
  10. Prevent emotional stressors and physical abuse.  If your dog is constantly being taunted by another person/family member (canine or feline or human), stress will win. This is really called animal cruelty, so six the situation immediately.

All of our animals need our help to lead long and healthy lives.  If your pet is stressed, this can lead to a shorten live and may destroy their happiness.  Remember, it is no exaggeration that Stress Kills!

Go and have fun with your animal today!!  This will help with the anxiety in  dogs!
