You need to give the pup a goody, and let him go play, then try again a little bit later. Using treats and rewards, and being patient, your pup will catch on pretty quickly.
When your pup has mastered the best way to leash train pup, and coming to you whenever you call him, you can more than likely start training him on a lead. Many vets will probably propose you start with a nylon collar prior to trying a choker collar. Generally, the choker collar just isn’t required, unless you have a very strong willed puppy dog.
In most cases the most suitable starting point for leash training is your own backyard. The puppy is probably already very used to this area now, so he will be less preoccupied with exploring, and more on training. In addition, you do not need to bother about other animals on the scene, as you would at the park or neighborhood walking track.
Once again, when you have the collar on and want to get started, bend down and give a goody to get your puppy to come to you. After successfully doing this several times, begin to walk a little with the puppy on the leash. If the puppy dog follows you, fuss over him and give him a goody. In the event he won’t follow, which very often is the case to begin with, begin all over again. Once he begins to follow you without resistance, try walking a bit more every time. Your puppy will soon learn to be lead, without him even noticing he’s doing something he may not want to do.
The question of just how do you leash train puppy dog won’t be addressed quickly. You have to keep working with your puppy often, as any training should be ongoing. The more training and practice your puppy gets, the more accustomed to the leash he’ll become.
