Chinchilla cages are expensive, but when you get the right one, you will ensure your Chinchilla is happy and that the cage will last a long time. You may not know, but chinchilla’s can jump over a meter high, so it’s really important that your cage has many levels and is tall enough for them to play around in. Also make sure that you make the bottom of the cage flat to protect their feet, and if possible you should do the same to the different ledges.

Ensuring the right location for your chinchilla is critical for their health. The cage location will need to let your chinchilla rest during the day because they are most active during the night. They mainly are awake and play in the evenings and night time. The best place is a quite place that can also be relatively dark. This will let them get plenty of rest.

Make sure you play with them a lot because they are active. You need to take them out of their cage at least once, but when they are awake, try to play with them as often as you can. It makes for a happy chinchilla. Also make sure you stock their cage out with toys and things to do.

Chinchillas take dust baths so having the right dust bowl is really important. This is probably one of the things that drew you to chinchilla’s in the first place… the fact that they bath in dust. At a very minimum, you will let your chichilla dust bath about twice a week to maintain good health. Too much though will dry their skin out and cause they to have rashes.

Make sure you place your chinchilla’s food and drink in the proper locations. Make sure that you get the right food for your chinchilla and supervise their eating. They are very food sensitive so it’s a great idea to watch them to make sure they don’t get sick. Also make sure you have a good water bottle… not bowl. They can’t get wet so a bowl would not be advisable.

You can tell that the chinchilla cage is really important for all these factors and since then can live over 15 years, you need a cage that can last. That should reinforce the fact that you really need a good cage and if you just follow these rules about your chinchilla cage , you will have one that makes your chinchilla happy for it’s entire life!
