How to Stop Your Dog from Barking Excessively

Dog Barking

How to Stop your dog from  barking excessively Does your dog bark to much.  This is probably the most persistent complaint from dog owners.

How to stop Barking: A dog in your home is usually very pleasant most of the time, but it does become a pain when the dog gets into a barking frenzy, and you don’t even know the reason why the dog is barking.  What do you do–decide to forcibly shut the dog up by putting it into a barking collar. (Not a good Idea)  That simply is not to say that a dog barking collar should not be used, but you should try and understand why your dog is barking excessively in the first place.

Dog Barking—–

  • One of the most common reasons for a dog to bark are hunger and thirst. Especially watch for this in the summer months, slurping water is more of a comfort than a thirst buster for a dog. So make sure, the water bowl full and that too with water that is cool. Make sure the dog has food.
  • Do you live in an area that has a lot of noise and disturbances around your house.  For instance, if you live on the main street where there’s a lot of traffic or construction work going on, your dog can get quite anxious if it can only hear the noise and not see it.  A solution to this problem, would be to let the dog see the happenings on your street and that will usually keep it quiet.
  • If a dog is uncomfortable, it might bark, because  he is uncomfortable. The dog  might be too hot for him or too cold; or he might have the need to run out for a while.

If you have tried all these suggestions and none work, you can take the advice of a dog expert and go in for a collar that won’t hurt your dog. Collars for the dog  have all come a long way, and something like a spray collar or a common restrictor could be used safely without harming your pet in any way.

Dog Barking can be rather bothersome.

I agree with you, I have found that my dog barks because he is bored. He is accustomed to a lot of attention, and doesn’t know how to behave when alone. I realize that we have set this up ourselves. My husband and I want our dogs to be happy, so we spoil them. I even give our dogs treats and petting whenever they wish. This is entirely normal for us to act this way and entirely normal for dogs to complain when they feel neglected. What can we do now!

You will need to teach your dog that barking for your attention doesn’t work. If your dog is unhappy outdoors and barking eventually makes you bring him in, he learns that barking gets results. If you start yelling at him to stop marking, well, that’s better than nothing. Your dog will thank well “I’m bored. Maybe I can get them to yell at me again.” You need to remember that yelling doesn’t work, negative reinforcement can still useful. Instead of yelling at the dog, try negative reinforcement. Just take a little water in a copy, when the dog barks, just throw a little water in it’s face and walk away. Later, if he barks again follow the procedure. Later, in the same situation, in which your dog barks but does stay quiet instead, calmly praise him. This should work
